End of Mixer: Livestream
Microsoft announced it is shutting down its Mixer streaming service, only about a year after pinching Ninja – a prolific Fortnite streamer who amassed millions of followers while playing – from rival streaming service Twitch as part of a lucrative exclusivity deal.
Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox at Microsoft, said the decision came down to “the time needed to
grow our own livestreaming community to scale” being “out of measure with the vision and experiences we want to deliver to gamers now.”
The streaming platform will cease to operate from Wednesday 22 July.
What is Mixer Live streaming App ?
Mixer – a seattle - based company and owned by Microsoft – is a live streaming video game platform that provides users to broadcast their gameplay to fans and followers in real time, much like the much more popular Twitch, to which it was once rivaled.
The service established in 2016 2016, but struggled to keep a grip on the streaming sector.
Why it fails in streaming sector ?
This has been a long time coming. Mixer has been struggling for years now, continue to lag far behind the live-streaming platforms this was meant to compete with — Facebook , YouTube, and Twitch — and it will be dead by the end of July. Even the Xbox director acknowledged that Mixer had "begun pretty far away," that is to say too far behind to ever catch up with his ostensible peers. Yet exactly what happened?
